The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since 10 April 2026, so your fingerprints and a photo are taken at your first entry instead of a passport stamp. ETIAS, a travel authorisation costing €20 and valid for three years, is not required yet and has no confirmed start date, so check travel-europe.europa.eu before you fly.

Tips for visiting Paris

  • The RER B airport ticket from Charles de Gaulle can be loaded on a Navigo Easy card or a smartphone.
  • The Roissybus to Opera was permanently discontinued on 1 March 2026; use the RER B or express bus 9517 instead.
  • The CDG Express rail link is scheduled to open in early 2027, so do not count on it for 2026 trips.
  • The 12-page US emergency passport is not accepted for entry to France.
  • Cash of 10,000 euros or more must be declared on entry and exit.
